A floor guidance system, various tactile objects and an audio guide in German and English will guide you safely through the exhibition and turn your visit into an experience. You can download the audio guide (Neanderthal app) to your smartphone at home using the button below.
The museum café at the end of the exhibition is barrier-free. Marked barrier-free parking spaces are available in the central car park P1 directly in front of the museum. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet in the basement of the museum (accessible via lift).
We sit around a cosy table and experience the development of mankind with all our senses. You will gradually be handed 10-20 artefacts, fossils and models that you can see, smell, taste, touch and hear.
No, there are plenty of specially marked parking spaces available directly in front of the museum in the central car park P1.
Yes, if you have a disability card, you will receive a discount both in the online shop and at the checkout. You pay 10 instead of 13 euros at the checkout and 9.50 instead of 12.50 euros online. The normal children's price applies for children up to the age of 16. Infants up to 3 years are always free of charge.
Yes, if you have a ‘B’ on your ID card, your accompanying person will of course receive free admission to the Neanderthal Museum and the discovery site.
Yes, there is a toilet on the ground floor with level and barrier-free access. The ground floor is accessible via a lift.
Yes, the entire exhibition, the museum café, the museum shop and the Höhlenblick adventure tower on the Neanderthal discovery site are barrier-free. The snail shell-like structure of the buildings without doors and steps makes them ideal for wheelchair access.
Yes, you can borrow a wheelchair free of charge at the ticket office. Just ask our staff about it.
Of course, you may take your assistance dog/companion dog with you both into the museum and to the Höhlenblick adventure tower at the Neanderthal archeological site. Please briefly inform our team at the ticket desk about your dog so that there are no misunderstandings.
Yes, there are a few seats in the exhibition where you can take a break. Ask our museum staff about our folding chairs, which can be borrowed free of charge.
Yes, there is a special price for people with disabilities both in the online shop and at the box office. No additional ticket needs to be purchased for accompanying persons (mark B).
We have been classified according to the criteria of the nationwide "Reisen für Alle" (Travel for All) label and are authorised to carry the ‘Accessibility tested’ award - partially barrier-free for people with walking disabilities, for wheelchair users, for people with visual impairments and for blind people.

At the museum, you can borrow a text reader in various languages and in plain language at the ticket desk. You can also download the Neanderthal app with the free audio guide.
