An interactive journey through the history of mankind

Walk in the footsteps of mankind - from our long journey from the savannahs to the big cities of today. You will meet our relatives and ancestors, who are reconstructed and spectacularly presented on the basis of the human fossils found.

Meet the famous Neanderthal Mr. N

It is a reconstruction of the world's first Neanderthal found in 1856, making it one of the most famous people in human history. Take a look at the bone find and don't miss out on your selfie with the star of our exhibition.

Experience our hands-on stations

Not just for children

With the Stone Age ActionPack, your children can puzzle and play their way through the exhibition. It contains a quiz (German) and materials with which you can make a Stone Age necklace at the interactive stations.

Free audio guide

Bring the Neanderthals to life with the app

With the app, you can get the free audio guide directly on your smartphone so that you can use your own headphones in the museum. This saves you waiting times at the audio stations and protects the environment. Of course, the app also contains lots of other useful information about the museum.

Special exhibition Stereotypes Neanderthal woman

When you think of Neanderthals, do you also think of muscle-bound men hunting mammoths? Time to change this image! In ‘Stereotypes Neanderthal woman’, we provocatively question our current ideas about prehistoric Neanderthal communities and do away with old clichés and role models.

Barrier-free museum

Our accessibility is certified by ‘Reisen für Alle’ and the entire exhibition and the Höhlenblick adventure tower are barrier-free. A special app, the floor guidance system and tactile push-button exhibits guide visitors through the exhibition.

Museum café

A perfect day at the museum also includes at least one good cup of coffee. The museum café also serves savoury sandwiches, cakes and snacks. A special highlight: the view of the wonderful Neandertal valley from the roof terrace.
