THANK YOU SO MUCH! The afternoon in the Stone Age workshop was really a great adventure for all of us. :-) Keeping the rascals under control was not so easy, but it was really wonderfully relaxed. We were particularly impressed that the children really experienced the sharp flints up close and personal [...]. It's great that this marvellous offer exists!

With its history and proximity to both the Bergisches Land and Düsseldorf, the Neandertal is particularly suitable for school trips. Thanks to our cooperation with the youth hostels in Düsseldorf and Velbert, we even offer particularly favourable conditions. Feel free to contact us.
If there is still time after the guided tour or workshop, you should definitely take a short walk with your group to the Discovery Site and the Höhlenblick tower. Or you can let the children let off steam in the Stone Age Playground.
Our booking team will be happy to answer any questions you may have about your visit by email or phone on weekdays: buchung@neanderthal.de / +49 (0) 2104 9797-15
Außerschulische Lernorte ("extracurricular places of learning") are becoming increasingly important. Whether excursions, explorations or joint workshops: The non-everyday excursions, to the Neandertal near Düsseldorf, definitely remain in the pupils' memories and have an extremely positive effect on social interaction within the learning group. For this reason, we offer a wide range of workshops and enriching additions to lessons for children and young people in and around the museum. In addition, teachers of history, social studies, science and biology can take part in our practical training courses.
With our permanent exhibition, the changing special exhibitions and the adjoining Stone Age workshop, the museum is a versatile extracurricular place of learning for secondary school classes and school leavers, but kindergarten groups and primary school pupils also get their money's worth.
In our guided tours and workshops, for example, you can learn about human evolution or human fossils and other diverse topics from biology and history. By the way, you can book most of our courses in different languages, so that bilingual classes, international schools or school exchange groups can also find the right programme for them.
Yes, even if you don´t want a guided tour of the museum, we ask that groups of 10 or more register in advance at museum@neanderthal.de or by telephone on +49 (0) 2104 9797-0.
On average, our guests spend around two hours in the museum and another hour visiting the discovery site with the Höhlenblick adventure tower. However, you can also spend a whole day with us. The museum is located in the centre of the beautiful Neandertal nature reserve. The hiking trails around the Ice Age game reserve invite you to go hiking or walking. If you have children, you should definitely plan some time for the Stone Age playground.
Yes, for school classes we have a special storage room for your personal belongings. Please ask our staff at the ticket desk when you visit.
