What you can experience during the autumn holidays

Dry feet, full heads - a visit to the museum is always worthwhile

If the weather is changeable, our museum is the perfect place for a day out: inside it's exciting - with real Neanderthals, mammoths, interactive stations and puzzles for children - and if you want to really immerse yourself in the Stone Age, get the Stone Age Action Pack: with a little skill, you can puzzle your way through the exhibition and make your own Stone Age necklace!

Play and discover - the Stone Age playground

Our Stone Age playground is right next to the museum - with climbing rocks, a mammoth slide and plenty of space to let off steam. Your children can get really active here after visiting the museum while you relax at the picnic area.

Colourful leaves, glacial animals - a walk through the Animal Park

A walk through the Ice Age Animal Park is particularly beautiful in autumn: between the colourful leaves, you will discover tarpans, bison and aurochs - animals from the Stone Age. The paths are pushchair-friendly and lead right through the heart of autumnal nature - perfect for a short break from the hustle and bustle or as a complement to a visit to the museum.

The Höhlenblick tower

The ‘Höhlenblick’ tower is just a few minutes away from the museum - directly at the original Neanderthal archaeological site. The ascent is particularly worthwhile in autumn: the Neandertal valley is a riot of colour, the foliage glows - and the view over the landscape is simply beautiful.

Tip: The ‘Mammutprobe’ - a climbing tunnel at a height of 20 metres - ideal for families!

Workshops & holiday programme in autmn holidays (German)

We get really active during the autumn holidays: in the Stone Age workshop, children (and adults) can get creative themselves - making fire like in prehistoric times, designing jewellery or got on the hunt with bow and arrow.

Our holiday workshops are supervised, weather-independent and ideal for anyone who wants to take part rather than just watch during the holidays.
