Over 3,000 guests celebrate the museum festival with us every year. This year it will take place on Saturday, 17 August and Sunday, 18 August 2024. You can find all the information on this page.
On the last weekend of the summer holidays, you can look forward to a varied entertainment programme. Families can look forward to hands-on stations and demonstrations in the museum garden, on the Stone Age playground and at the discovery site with the Höhlenblick tower.
Decorate yourself with self-made Stone Age jewellery or have colourful Stone Age tattoos painted on. Once you're well prepared, you can go on a wild hunt in the museum garden with a bow and arrow or a spear sling. Then learn the art of flint knapping or forge your own work of art in the workshop.
Every person registered on the annual pass receives free admission on both days of the festival. Simply show your card at the box office. Valid for all annual tickets redeemed at the Neanderthal Museum by 16 August 2024.
Without our archaeologists, we wouldn't even know about these Stone Age techniques today. Slip into their role and dig for lost fossils. You can then analyse your finds together with our experts.
Animal fun is also guaranteed: ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen and the Grüner Zoo Wuppertal provide insights into their work. A visit to the Tarpan enclosure of the Ice Age Animal Park is also on the programme. The hands-on circus awaits particularly skilful guests.
