This tour centres on Neanderthals, their appearance, their abilities and their way of life as hunters and gatherers. The myth of the ‘wild man’ is contrasted with new scientific findings.

Procedure

The tour begins in the foyer and is dedicated to the history of Neanderthal artefacts and their place in the development of mankind. We use selected exhibits to talk about the Neanderthals' way of life as hunters and gatherers, their tool technology, diet and language skills. Handouts support the dialogue during the tour and illustrate the narrative. The tour is also available in English and French for a small surcharge.
