Design your own exhibition!

Content

How does a curator design a museum exhibition? Bring 3 items that you associate with the topics “Past and present”, “Memories” and “Fun”. With a group, students will then create a new exhibition using the items everyone brought and materials from the museum. They will present their exhibition to their class mates and thus gain insights into the three main functions of a museum: collect, exhibit and communicate.

Procedure

Cultural education is at the centre of this workshop. After practicing creating an exhibit together, some of the objects you bring with you will be added to the ‘collection’. As the workshop progresses, you will work in small groups to create a small table-top exhibition. You can use the objects from the collection and stage them with light, images and texts. After the exhibitions have been presented, we will reflect on the activities of a museum and the workshop as a whole group. The workshop is also offered in English for a small surcharge.
